Patterns and Goals

First and foremost, thank y'all for all the support on our first major pattern release! We were able to get the scariest bills paid and cover the time we needed to get (mostly) caught up from the lost time due to covid. I don't know what we'd have done otherwise. Y'all saved our way of life <3

This experience was a real eye opener for me. I've been trying to get enough support on Patreon for almost half a year now to fund the time to digitize my patterns for release, and while I am grateful for the people who deemed the effort worthy of support, pledges been stalled for half a year and never broke halfway to the goal.

Like it or not, I just can't afford to self fund this! So, I'm going to accept defeat and change my approach to patterns and licensing.

Patterns sold from this point on will have a standard license. No more confusion! I will reissue links to the updated version of the pattern for everyone who has bought the SOS version as well. Donations will still be appreciated, but this is easier for everyone involved.

In order to keep our commitment to offering free resources, we will follow a simple formula: when we update our shapes, we will release the older versions to the library. This way we can financially cover the cost of the freebies and continue to create new work and keep the cycle going! We will revisit a pattern of the month thing once we have a little more support for it.

Our next goal is to raise the funds to escape the state of Texas.

I don't have an eloquent way to say this. We're trans, and we're scared.

Put frankly, we're both really fucked up by the stress. It's a 5+hr drive each way on rural roads to get trans-related in-person health care (or restock most supplies in person). We're struggling with our water supply, they’re fracking beneath our neighborhood, and our internet has gotten so bad that we cannot stream our work anymore and had to switch to mobile data, which affects our livelihood. We have to get out of this hellscape on our own terms while we can.

We've invested everything into our house and attached studio. It's going to cost us thousands of dollars to sell and free up our equity, and we're not going to qualify for traditional loans again due to several factors, which means that we'll have to pay for the difference outright. Moving our home and studio will be several thousand dollars more.

Basically, we need a miracle.

We have a few more legacy patterns and moldsets to release to raise the funds to relocate, plus one big special project, but time is short and we want to prepare early. Our goal is to be in a new place in the Pacific Northwest by my birthday in February, and we have a ton of work to do to make it happen. In a perfect world, we would have family that could shelter us while we saved our money, but that's not reality for us. We only have a community that we've been part of for 10+ years, and hope, and hard work.

If you are inclined to contribute to our moving fund, please use the link below or make any purchase from our shop. Thank you so much for caring enough about two eccentric artists <3
